Period 1 Grade 12 World Issues - Week of Sept 28-Oct2

Monday Sept. 28: Class discussion relating to classifying countries into the "5 World Model" and the economic and social terms used to measure the level of development in countries.
Homework: Make sure you have completed the classifying of countries 1 - 20 on page 24 and question 4a and 4b on page 28.

Tuesday Sept 29 and Wednesday Sept 30: Students worked on completing first 5 article summaries and reflections. Also questions 6a and 8a on page 29.
Homework: Reminder that articles are due on Friday Oct. 2
Complete and hand in all of the Classifying Countries questions on Friday Oct. 2 (20 coutnries classified into 5 Worlds, questions 4a, 4b, 6a, 8a from page 28.)

Thursday October 1: Introduction to Globalization Issues

Period 4 Grade 9 Geog - Week of Sept 28-Oct 2

Monday Sept 28: Discussed answers for Ecozone Detective page. Did a practice quiz about Canada's Landform Regions...more study is needed for the real quiz on Tuesday. Watched Video: The Living Tides of Fundy and completed video worksheet.
Homework: Study for Landform Region quiz...study the map and the information notes on the back of the map.
Tuesday Sept 29: Finished the Bay of Fundy Video and took up answers to worksheet. We had a quiz about Landform Regions.
Homework: Study the names and locations of the 15 Ecozones
Wednesday Sept 30: Climate Factors - Today we made notes about the factors that affect climate. We learned about the rules of graphing and mad a bar graph.
Homework: Study the names and locations of the 15 Ecozones
Thursday October 1: Test of Cognitive Skills
Friday October 2: Finish notes on Factors Effecting Climate. Summarize 3 types of precipitation from textbook pages 149 - 151. Complete questions on page 153 to hand in: #2,3,4,6,7

Period 4 Grade 9 Geography - Week of Sept 14-18

This week we have been studying Canada's Landform Regions.
Students viewed a video about the Physical geography of Canada and completed a worksheet.
Students completed a map and filled the back with point form notes about each region.

Homework Reminder:
Due Monday September 21: Students must use their point form notes to write three paragraphs - one for each of the three landform regions of their choice. Bring your three hand written, rough copy paragraphs to class on Monday.

Period 1 Grade 12 World Issues - Week of Sept. 14-18

Students completed Issues in Music assignments and presentations.
You received your Newspaper Portfolio Assignment.
Due Date for the first 5 articles with summaries and reflections is Friday October 2nd.

Period 4 - Grade 9 Geography

Summary of the first Week:

Students were introduced to the course content and the different units. Students completed a Textbook Search that allowed them to learn more about how the textbook is set up and some of the important topics in the book.
The class made a list and a note about how to make a map with all of the appropriate and required items. Then they completed a Political map of Canada.
The students studied the provinces/territories and all of their capitals all week and then had a test on Friday.
HOMEWORK REMINDERS:
Textbook search and completed political map are to be handed in at the beginning of class on Monday September 14.
Any student who scored lower than 34 marks on the test Friday has to re-write on Monday. Anyone else can re-write as well if they want to try for a higher mark.
