Monday October 5 - Finished viewing Roger and Me and then discussed the video worksheet. Went to computer lab to view Learning Log Rubric and explain expectations for Learning Log. Students had time to work on this.

Period 4 Grade 9 Geography - Week of Sept 14-18
This week we have been studying Canada's Landform Regions.
Students viewed a video about the Physical geography of Canada and completed a worksheet.
Students completed a map and filled the back with point form notes about each region.
Homework Reminder:
Due Monday September 21: Students must use their point form notes to write three paragraphs - one for each of the three landform regions of their choice. Bring your three hand written, rough copy paragraphs to class on Monday.

Period 4 - Grade 9 Geography
Summary of the first Week:
Students were introduced to the course content and the different units. Students completed a Textbook Search that allowed them to learn more about how the textbook is set up and some of the important topics in the book.
The class made a list and a note about how to make a map with all of the appropriate and required items. Then they completed a Political map of Canada.
The students studied the provinces/territories and all of their capitals all week and then had a test on Friday.
HOMEWORK REMINDERS:
Textbook search and completed political map are to be handed in at the beginning of class on Monday September 14.
Any student who scored lower than 34 marks on the test Friday has to re-write on Monday. Anyone else can re-write as well if they want to try for a higher mark.

Period 1 - Week of Sept 8-11
Summary of the first week:
We completed definitions relating to this course: issue, point-of-view, bias, prejudice and discussed the relevance to the course material.
Students completed and discussed a survey of opinions on various issues and completed a scoring system that placed each student on a grid based on their economic and social opinions.
Students began working on a group presentation, selecting a song that discusses a world issuue. Presentations will start on Tuesday September 15.
Friday was September 11 and the class viewed video and listened to music in mempry of the 8th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
Reminder to work on your song presentations for homework.
